Jane Eckles is a central Illinois oil painter of portraits as well as landscapes, and still life. Her artistic process began as a child during frequent visits to her Grandmother’s house who always encouraged her to draw. She studied art at Southern Illinois University and graduated with a BFA in Art Education, and The University of Houston earning an MFA in Graphic Arts. She worked for many years as a graphic designer and art teacher in Illinois and Texas. Now, back home, her primary source of inspiration for her diverse subject matter comes from the people and places in central Illinois, where she lives with her 88 year old Mother who is often unwittingly a model.
Ms. Eckles has participated in shows at Gallery 510, Hoogland Center for the Arts in Springfield, IL., and nationally with Oil Painters of America in Dallas, TX. and Fort Wayne, IN. Her art work is in many private residences and she is currently an associate member of Oil Painters of America.
